The Korean War Veterans Association (KWVA) is a congressionally chartered veterans service organization founded in 1985 to support and represent United States veterans who served during the Korean War era. The Association is dedicated to preserving the legacy of those who served, advocating for veterans’ interests, and ensuring that the service and sacrifices of Korean War veterans are never forgotten.

Who the Organization Represents

The Korean War Veterans Association represents U.S. military veterans who served on active duty during the Korean War period, as well as associate members who support the organization’s mission. Through its chapters and departments, KWVA provides camaraderie, advocacy, and remembrance for veterans of the “Forgotten War.”

Member Eligibility Requirements

Membership in the Korean War Veterans Association is based on verified military service during the Korean War era or on support of the organization’s mission.

  • Regular membership is open to honorably discharged U.S. military veterans who served on active duty during the Korean War period.
  • Service eligibility generally includes active duty between June 25, 1950, and January 31, 1955, in accordance with KWVA guidelines.
  • Applicants must provide acceptable proof of service, such as a DD Form 214 or equivalent military documentation.
  • Associate membership may be available to individuals who did not serve during the Korean War but support the mission and objectives of KWVA.
  • Final determination of eligibility is made in accordance with KWVA bylaws and verified at the Chapter level.

How Membership Is Structured

Membership is administered through local KWVA Chapters organized under state-level Departments and the national association. Members may participate in meetings, commemorative events, advocacy efforts, community service, and organizational leadership activities.
