Member Eligibility Requirements

Membership in the Daughters of the Republic of Texas is based on documented lineal descent and is subject to verification and approval.

  • Applicants must be women aged 16 or older.
  • Applicants must prove direct lineal descent from an individual who rendered qualifying service to the Republic of Texas between March 2, 1836, and February 19, 1846.
  • Qualifying ancestors may include those who provided military, civil, or patriotic service to the Republic of Texas.
  • Applicants must submit acceptable genealogical documentation establishing lineage to a qualifying ancestor.
  • Members must be of good moral character and support the purposes and objectives of the organization.
  • Final approval of membership is granted by the appropriate chapter and the DRT registrar.
