The 1st Cavalry Division Association is a nonprofit organization established to preserve the history, traditions, and legacy of the United States Army’s 1st Cavalry Division. The Association supports soldiers, veterans, families, and descendants connected to the Division, commonly known as the “First Team.”
Who the Association Represents
The 1st Cavalry Division Association represents current and former soldiers of the 1st Cavalry Division, veterans of all eras of the Division’s service, family members, and supporters who are committed to honoring the Division’s combat service and contributions to U.S. military history.
What the Association Does
- Preserves and promotes the history and traditions of the 1st Cavalry Division
- Supports unit reunions, commemorations, and remembrance activities
- Maintains historical records, archives, and educational resources
- Provides support to soldiers, veterans, and Gold Star families
- Encourages camaraderie and lifelong connection among Division members
Where the Association Operates
The 1st Cavalry Division Association operates nationally with headquarters in Killeen, Texas, near Fort Cavazos (formerly Fort Hood). It serves members across the United States and internationally through chapters, events, and digital engagement.
Membership Eligibility
Membership in the 1st Cavalry Division Association is inclusive and service-connected.
- Membership is open to current and former members of the 1st Cavalry Division.
- Family members, descendants, and supporters of the Division are also eligible.
- No combat service requirement applies.
- Documentation of service or association may be requested for certain membership categories.
How Membership Is Structured
Membership is administered through the national Association and affiliated chapters. Members participate in reunions, commemorative events, historical preservation projects, publications, and governance activities that sustain the legacy of the 1st Cavalry Division.
